Dorothy Mae Farr Grindstaff, 90, of Old Fort, NC, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Grindstaff was born October 21, 1926 in Burke County, NC to the late Horace Farr and Ethel Mull Farr. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, for 67 years, where she held various leadership roles in the church. She loved God, her family and her church family! People always enjoyed talking to her because she was such a good listener and never judgemental. She was a great cook and she was known best for...

Dorothy Mae Farr Grindstaff, 90, of Old Fort, NC, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Grindstaff was born October 21, 1926 in Burke County, NC to the late Horace Farr and Ethel Mull Farr. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, for 67 years, where she held various leadership roles in the church. She loved God, her family and her church family! People always enjoyed talking to her because she was such a good listener and never judgemental. She was a great cook and she was known best for her chocolate oatmeal cookies. Mrs. Grindstaff retired from McDowell County Head Start.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Malgram T. Grindstaff and four siblings, Truett, Manford, Maxine and Katherine.

Surviving Mrs. Grindstaff are two children, Dr. Gary Grindstaff and wife, Donna of Marion and Dr. Kathy Revis and husband, Ken of Mills River, NC; four grandchildren, Kellie Holstein and husband, Mike, Adam Grindstaff and wife, Heather, David Grindstaff and wife, Kristyn and Garrett Revis and wife, Ashley; eight great-grandchildren, Lexi, Aubrey, Karter, Griffin, Hudson, Wells, Sadie and Truett; and a number of extended family and church family.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
